Homes for Islington - Strategic Framework Agreement

Working in partnership

The Apollo Group is working in partnership with Homes for Islington, a Three-Star Arms Length Management Organisation, on a £700 million project to bring 40,000 council properties up to a standard above the Decent Homes standard by 2010.

Under the strategic framework agreement, contractors are not guaranteed a set amount of work. Instead, a year's allocation of projects is based on previous performance and the achievement of Key Performance Indicators. For the past two years, as a result of achieving consistently high standards, Apollo has been awarded the largest portion of works from all those on the framework.

As well as providing first class service and delivery, we have undertaken a strong community liaison programme covering activities as varied as in-school talks, community fun days and local recruitment initiatives. We employ a full time Community Investment Manager to work along site teams throughout the borough.

Meeting our client's needs

Apollo has used a number of techniques for projects under the framework, each of which anticipates and responds to Homes for Islington's requirements. They include:

  • A 12-metre high wind turbine which generates power for the lifts, lights, water pumps, CCTV and concierge area of Kestrel House - one of the major schemes in the Homes for Islington portfolio.
  • Recycling of removed materials.
  • Local labour recruitment, training and apprenticeship schemes.
  • A programme of efficiency savings.
